Study of plant-pollinator interactions in the inner city of Warsaw

We present the infographics that were created as part of the funding from the implementation of the award of the 3rd edition of the competition.

Pollination is one of the most important processes – essential not only for the production of vegetables and ornamental plants, but also for the maintenance of urban ecosystems. Alarming data showing a massive decline in biodiversity is a wake-up call to rethink the role of cities in conservation.

We completed the study in July 2021. Using the latest technology (quantum dots), we looked at whether even small urban green spaces are important for insects and how this changes during the growing season.

The study was conducted by: Marcin Mazurkiewicz, Barbara Plaskonka, Dr. Katarzyna Roguz, prof. Marcin Zych. The researchers are part of the Botanical Garden’s scientific team University of Warsaw.
