UW Calendar
University rip-off calendar
The Dialogue and Cooperation Section of the UW’s CWiD has undertaken the creation of a unique thematic calendar, which has been dedicated to trivia around the Nobel Prize.
What is this calendar? On the surface, it’s a simple rip-off calendar. However, instead of kitchen recipes and horoscopes, it was dedicated to the Nobel Prize – the most important, prestigious event in science and culture. UW’s illustrated thematic calendar is an invitation to a world full of discoveries, prominent figures and landmarks. On its pages, historical events are interspersed with anecdotes from the lives of the honored researchers, as well as those individuals who – despite their outstanding achievements – for various (often mysterious) reasons were not honored with the Award.
The idea of preparing a thematic calendar dedicated to the Nobel Prize is closely related to the Nobel Week organized by the UW’s CWiD. This is an information center that operates during the announcement of the names of female and male award winners. As part of the center, female researchers and University of Warsaw researchers bring the sense and essence of the award-winning achievements to the general public on an ongoing basis. Dissemination of knowledge regarding the history of the Nobel Prize in the form of short popularizing notes for daily reading, enriched with photos and illustrations, complements CWiD UW’s Nobel Week.
