CONFERENCE

Results of the GAIA space mission's work

On June 13, 2022, a press conference was held at the Warsaw University Astronomical Observatory to celebrate the announcement of the results of the Gaia space mission’s work, during which Professor. Lukasz Wyrzykowski delivered a lecture titled “The importance of the company. “Guide to the Galaxy by Gaia Space Mission.”

For years, the Gaia space mission has been scanning the sky with unprecedented precision and creating a 3D map of the stars of our Galaxy and its neighborhood. The mission’s instruments are so precise that observation from Earth of the Moon’s surface makes it possible to determine the size of the objects there as small as a zloty!

The latest results from the Gaia mission make it possible to create not only a map, but also a guide to the cosmic neighborhood. Which corners of it are the most intriguing? What secrets do they hold within them? Do they allow us to learn more about our Solar System? Where are planets and black holes hiding?

For those who were unable to make it to the Warsaw University Astronomical Observatory conference, we encourage you to read the materials from the meeting:
